Game Day

Posted by on Monday, January 31, 2005 (EST)

When it's time to play your games.

Playing time

The coaches are encouraged to make every effort to play each child in the recreational program equally.

Teamwork

Soccer is a team sport!!  Both offense and defense are of equal importance.

Weather

In cold weather, sweatpants and sweatshirts may be worn under the uniform.  Gloves, mittens, and hats are also recommended.

Canceling games

Soccer games are played in the rain.  Games are cancelled by the referee, not the coaches.  Players should report to the field unless notified by their coaches that the game has been cancelled.

Sideline Behavior

Please be examples of good role models for our children and our community.  Use respectful language at all times.  Cheer for your child, but please leave the coaching to the coaches.  Remember, your child is playing soccer to learn the game and have fun!

Coaches

Anyone who is interested in coaching at the recreational level should contact our recreational soccer coordinator.  Coaches at this level do not get paid.  Volunteers are also needed for assistant coaches.  These positions are mostly parents of players on the team.  Coaching clinics are available.  Guidelines are also available as to what is expected at each level.

Referees

Please be respectful of the referees.  This is also a learning experience for them.  If you have any questions or concerns about the officiating, please bring this to the attention of the PWSC head referee.
