Being part of the select soccer program requires a greater commitment than at the recreational level when it comes to attending practices and games, traveling a little further for games (usually no more than 1 1/2 hour drive), and playing as a team.
Our soccer club recognizes that all club activities come second to academic requirements. We also recognize that players are also involved in other sports and/or activities, however, playing on a select team requires more than a casual commitment.
Players are expected to attend 2-3 practices per week, usually 1 1/2 hours per practice. Tournaments are also part of the select program, usually 3-5 in the fall and 3-5 in the spring. At least two of these tournaments (one in fall and one is spring) involve weekend overnight travel.
Indoor sessions during the winter season are strongly encouraged, but not required. Playing indoor is a great opportunity to develop skills and stay in shape. Each session is approximately 6 weeks long, one night per week. Teams usually have the opportunity to play 3 sessions.
Players are expected to train outside of the team environment. Some examples can include running, practicing ball handling skills, and weight training as appropriate for age levels. Soccer camps are strongly encouraged during the summer months. Individual training is an integral part of the development process.
All players are expected to demonstrate respectful behavior to their coaches, teammates, referees, opponents, and community.
